Pelz & Zoon

The organ was rebuilt in 1887 and again in 1923. In 1953 the Chuch Council decided to replace the Hoets organ with a new instrument built by Pelz and Zoon of Alkmaar, Holland, at a cost of £17,500. The new instrument, the largest church organ in South Africa, was consecrated by Dr. AJ van der Merwe on 1 December 1957. The organ of 75 ranks has four manuals and 13 couplers.
